Firebox and WatchGuard Log Servers

Storing Log Messages

Your Firebox and WatchGuard servers can send log messages to your WSM Log Server or to WatchGuard Dimension. To store log messages on the Firebox, select the Send log messages to Firebox internal storage check box.

Testing Network Connectivity

To test network connectivity, you can ping a host from your Windows computer or from the Firebox. You can also use nslookup to test DNS resolution from a Windows computer or from the Firebox.

Pinging a Host from Your Windows Computer

1. Open a command prompt.
2. Type the following command:
ping hostname
3. Press Enter.

Pinging a Host from the Firebox

1. Log in to the Firebox CLI.
2. Type the following command:
ping hostname
3. Press Enter.

Using nslookup to Test DNS Resolution

1. Open a command prompt.
2. Type the following command:
nslookup hostname
3. Press Enter.
