Centrist Politician Accuses Prime Minister Of Mismanagement In Handling Of Gaza Conflict

Israeli Minister Benny Gantz Resigns from War Cabinet, Calls for Early Elections

Centrist Politician Accuses Prime Minister of Mismanagement in Handling of Gaza Conflict

Gantz's Resignation Deals Blow to Netanyahu's Government

JERUSALEM - In a major blow to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, centrist politician Benny Gantz has resigned from his position in the country's war cabinet. Gantz, a former military chief, accused Netanyahu of mismanagement in handling the ongoing conflict with Hamas, calling for early elections to resolve the political crisis.

Gantz, who joined Netanyahu's government in April 2024, had been a key member of the war cabinet, which oversees Israel's response to the Gaza conflict. However, he has increasingly criticized Netanyahu's handling of the situation, accusing the prime minister of failing to take decisive action and escalating tensions.

In a statement announcing his resignation, Gantz said that Netanyahu had "failed to lead Israel out of the crisis" and that the government had "lost the public's trust." He called for early elections to give the Israeli people a chance to choose a new leadership.

Netanyahu, who has been in power for more than a decade, has faced growing pressure to step down in recent months. The war in Gaza, which has claimed the lives of hundreds of Palestinians and dozens of Israelis, has eroded public support for his government. Netanyahu has also been embroiled in a series of corruption scandals.

Gantz's resignation is a major setback for Netanyahu, who is now facing the prospect of losing his parliamentary majority. The centrist politician is a potential challenger to Netanyahu in the upcoming elections and his departure from the government further weakens the prime minister's position.
